This picture means a lot to me. But you can probably tell why I don’t want to have it up on facebook:Because it looks like a picture of some trashy girl who got blackout drunk at a party and is now throwing herself at any guy who will pay attention to her. But it’s not. This is a picture of me on New Year’s Eve at my boyfriend’s house. The boy in the picture isn’t my boyfriend. He is a good friend of mine who grew up on the same block as me- we’ve known each other since we were seven years old. Four months before this picture was taken, his twin brother was killed in a car crash along with two of our other high school friends. They had been on their way back home from visiting me at college.
This picture is of the very first time that we saw each other since the funerals of our friends and his brother. Everyone was all home from school for the holidays, so we gathered together to share old memories, make new ones, laugh, cry, and toast to the lives of those we lost.
The bracelet that he’s wearing is a friendship bracelet that I made and gave to him right before I went back to school after taking time off to mourn and to attend the funerals and vigils. I’m sorry, guys, but I just needed to have a place to put this picture.
